Jul. 5th, 2007 03:05 pmOkay, what the hell is it with words these days? I just put "the elderly" on my application form (I'm volunteering in a nursing home, and they want reasons why I wanna work there), and was informed too late that that's un-PC now.
Oh, yes. You have to say "elderly people" nowadays, because otherwise it's like you're objectifying the older generation. (Oh, there, see, I bet I just did it again.)
Am I the only one who didn't get the memo on this? As well as the hundred other oh-so-subtle changes in phrase that've been going on for the past year or so?
