My own two cents on the outcome of the US election:

Dear Obama,
Congratulations. While I'm not sure you're necessarily just the guy we're looking for, you're probably about as close as we were going to get. If nothing else, considering the details of that election, you should be a good one for the history books. Well done.

Love,
Me.

Dear America,

As depressing as I find it that the person running your country is essentially responsible for the rest of the Western world, that seems to be the state of affairs. Pretty much everywhere else in the world was hanging on the results last night. Reflect on this. Try to learn.

Don't mess it up.

Love,
Me.

I find the latter to actually be pretty frightening.

(And I happen to go to the flagship state uni of Obama's home state, with a good eighty percent of the population hailing from within an hour of Obama's hometown. There was screaming and crying and cheering in the halls for a good hour and a half.)

I can't say I'm too fond of it as a state of affairs - no offence, US - but as it is the way things are, the least the White House can do is make the best of it. Fingers crossed!
