Aug. 29th, 2007 12:28 pmI have just had a grim vision of the not-too-distant future.
I go back to school the week after next.
Until the end of October, my life will be an agony of Extended Essays and UCAS and probably also something to do with TOK that I won't do until the last minute 'cause, y'know, it's TOK.
From November until January my life will be an agony of coursework. World Lit, Psychology, Maths, probably Biology too, and History. Maybe Italian if I decide to do the A2..
From January onwards, my life will be revision. By April I will have stopped sleeping. The beginning weeks of May will find me wandering the college hallways, reaching desperately out after the hallucination of the floating talking textbook which is offering me drugs to numb the pain, and jumping at small noises.
Three weeks into May or so, my exams will finish. The last word of the last paper will be the last word that ever I do write, as the pain of standardised testing wrings the last drop of life from my helpless body.
I will spend the rest of the summer in bed.
Chilling, isn't it?

This is how I say "Let's gripe together!"
Date: 2007-08-29 08:28 pm (UTC)(It is so weird realizing that there are other people in IB. what's your EE topic? *nerdy*)
IA's are what I dread. =/ they all come one-after-another-after-another. *shudder*
(I still owe you a letter, too. I wrote it. but I need to mail it. )
Re: This is how I say "Let's gripe together!"
Date: 2007-08-29 10:39 pm (UTC)I'm doing Japanese history. My title is something ridiculously long; I'm basically doing an investigation of why the modernisation reforms made them go all "WE WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD".)
IAs are awful. We've already done most of the Bios, I think, but there's still a bunch of other stuff...and I was supposed to do some of my Psych SL coursework over the summer, but I was away for the last week on a study trip, so I have no idea what it was. I'm about to find out. For the last week of the summer. (What HLs/SLs are you doing?)
(Send it to me! It will be a bright spot in the confusing education matrix that is IB.)
Re: This is how I say "Let's gripe together!"
Date: 2007-08-29 11:43 pm (UTC)Niiiice. XD Why DID they go all "WE WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD!"? *is doing Savonarola and how he was really a practically normal kind of batshit crazy, not REALLY batshit batshit crazy like Martin Luther or the like. )
We haven't started bio, apparently we practice a lot for that one. But the first part of our history IA's are due next week. And UGH, I fear the Psych IA because I have NO idea where I'll do the experiment. =/ I'm going to have to see if I can share research with someone. (I'm doing:
HL History of the Americas SL Math Studies
HL English 1A SL French B
HL Psych SL Biology
I have to say, if you're not taking MAth Studies you're a fool. Love that class. )
(I shall try, ASAP.)
Re: This is how I say "Let's gripe together!"
Date: 2007-08-30 11:23 am (UTC)...and they also probably thought it'd be kind of fun. I'm stuck on about 2,500 words, though, and it's bugging the hell out of me...your one sounds odd o_o)
Hey, you're doing almost the same subjects as me! Except they stopped doing Biology SL for my class (for some reason) so I had to take it at HL if I didn't want to do Environmental Systems. So I'm doing four highers; History (America at HL, the Cold War at SL) French B, English 1A, and Bio. Then Psych and Maths Studies at SL. I study my kanji in Maths Studies lessons ^_^ My teacher doesn't like me.
What's History IA like? I think we're getting our assignments when term starts. I was supposed to write my Psychology method and intro over the summer, but I didn't know I was meant to, so I kind of didn't. ^^;
Re: This is how I say "Let's gripe together!"
Date: 2007-08-30 08:18 pm (UTC)Oh man, why would people stop bio SL? That's the class for all the kids who wdon't like science, at my school. o_O; (Not that I dislike science, but HL bio at our school is supposed to be petty tough.)
Wish we could take two histories. =/ (In our MS, we never do the work. And we sleep. And we work on other classes. And Mr Carrell is okay with that. XD; Mostly.)
Dunno, haven't really started yet. It looks like the research will be the hardest part.
